DIY Centre Pull Yarn Ball part 1 - DIY Draad uit het midden deel 1


Hoi!
Misschien zijn jullie deze tip al eens tegengekomen (ik heb bijv. een tijd geleden een fotocollage hierover gepost op Instagram), maar bij een blog over haken mag deze tutorial zeker niet ontbreken.

Niets is irritanter dan dat je bolletje wol of katoen elke kant opvliegt terwijl je aan het haken of breien bent, eens?
Nou kun je een 'yarn bowl' of een theepot gebruiken, daar doe je je bol in, draad door de opening of tuit, en haken maar.
Maar ja, als je onderweg wilt haken wil je natuurlijk niet met je theepot onder je arm de deur uit, dan gebruik je gewoon het draadeinde uit het midden.

Hier vind je de tutorial hoe je dat easy peasy met een nieuwe bol doet, maar dit keer zal ik je uitleggen -in het Engels, pfff, lastig haha- hoe je zelf zo'n bolletje maakt. En het mooie is: het kost niks! (Yay!)

Maybe you've run into this tip already (f.e. I posted a photo collage on Instagram some time ago), but on a blog about crochet it surely can't be missed. 
Nothing is more annoying than a ball of yarn flying around when you're crocheting or knitting, don't you agree?
You can buy a yarn bowl or use a tea pot, you simply put the ball inside, pull the end through the hole or spout and there you go.
But I don't think you'll want to take it under your armpit everywhere when you're going out, so then you simply use the end that is tucked inside the ball.

Here  you can find the tutorial on how to do that easy peasy with a néw ball of yarn but this time I'll explain how you can make your own centre pull ball. And the good thing is: it costs nothing! (Yay!)
Oh, and when I say 'rolling', I mean 'winding', and I probably made more mistakes... ;-)

Zoals ik al in de video zei kun je je rolletje versieren met een leuk papiertje of zoals ik met een restje behang en (behang-)lijm.
Leg je rolletje op het papier en snijd het papier op maat, met een overlap van ongeveer anderhalf Ã  twee cm aan beide uiteinden.
Plak je papier op de rol, knip wat uitsteekt verschillende malen in en plak deze aan de binnenkant vast.
Je kunt nu je rolletje eventueel nog extra verstevigen met plakband, maar voor mij is het zo goed genoeg (en ook natuurvriendelijker natuurlijk). 

Like I said in the video you can decorate your roll with some beautiful paper or like I did with some left over wallpaper and some (wallpaper) glue.
Put your roll on the paper, cut it to size with an overlap of appr. 1,5 - 2 cm on both ends.
Glue your paper on the roll, cut the ends lengthwise a couple of times, fold them and glue these to the inside. 
You could use some clear tape as protection, but for me this was good enough (and it's more environmentally friendly of course).


Ik heb ze overal liggen, in elke haakmand (en dat zijn er veel haha).

I've got them lying around everywhere, in every crochet basket (and there are many of those haha).

En ik haak in een enkele magische ring, maar een dubbele of een ring van 4 lossen kan uiteraard ook. Onderaan mijn blog vind het schema!     De binnenkant: 1* Haak 6 clusters van 3 stokjes in een magis...

Crocheted Tartan Plant Pot Cover - Gehaakte Geruite Plantenpothoes

A couple of years ago I made this tutorial for byClaire & Friends.  It seemed the link didn't work anymore, and I wanted to translate it into English anyway, so here is the revised version. This tutorial is for a pot with a diameter of 23 cm and hight 21 cm, but you can adjust it to a different size. If you want to make a swatch: crochet 1 square with 2 stripes on one side and at the top. Now you can measure how many you need for your pot, and maybe use a different size hook if you want smaller or bigger squares, or when you're using a different size yarn. For some more tips, please scroll down to the remarks underneath the pattern. What do you need: I used hook size 6 (and size 3 for hiding the ends), 2 balls of byClaire Softmix for the main colour, 1 ball of Softmix as the secondary colour and 1 ball of byClaire Sparkle. Train Track Join

Het heeft even geduurd, maar hier is dan de beschrijving hoe je vierkantjes aan elkaar kunt haken met de Train Track Join. Op Instagram heb ik een poll gehouden over de naam, en deze kwam als winnaar uit de bus, waarschijnlijk omdat het echt een beetje lijkt op spoorrails. En het klinkt wel lekker eigenwijs, toch? Je kunt deze manier op verschillende manieren toepassen. Afhankelijk van hoeveel vasten je tussendoor haakt en hoe groot je de lusjes maakt, worden de 'rails' oftewel de ruimtes ertussen groter of kleiner.  It took a while, but here is how you join granny squares with the Train Track Join. On Instagram I did a poll on the name, and this was the most popular one, probably because it resembles it so much. And it sounds a bit crazy too doesn't it haha. You can use this join in several ways. It depends on how many single crochets you use in between and how big you make the loops, that makes the spaces in between smaller or bigger. Laten we ...
