DIY Centre Pull Yarn Ball part 1 - DIY Draad uit het midden deel 1


Hoi!
Misschien zijn jullie deze tip al eens tegengekomen (ik heb bijv. een tijd geleden een fotocollage hierover gepost op Instagram), maar bij een blog over haken mag deze tutorial zeker niet ontbreken.

Niets is irritanter dan dat je bolletje wol of katoen elke kant opvliegt terwijl je aan het haken of breien bent, eens?
Nou kun je een 'yarn bowl' of een theepot gebruiken, daar doe je je bol in, draad door de opening of tuit, en haken maar.
Maar ja, als je onderweg wilt haken wil je natuurlijk niet met je theepot onder je arm de deur uit, dan gebruik je gewoon het draadeinde uit het midden.

Hier vind je de tutorial hoe je dat easy peasy met een nieuwe bol doet, maar dit keer zal ik je uitleggen -in het Engels, pfff, lastig haha- hoe je zelf zo'n bolletje maakt. En het mooie is: het kost niks! (Yay!)

Maybe you've run into this tip already (f.e. I posted a photo collage on Instagram some time ago), but on a blog about crochet it surely can't be missed. 
Nothing is more annoying than a ball of yarn flying around when you're crocheting or knitting, don't you agree?
You can buy a yarn bowl or use a tea pot, you simply put the ball inside, pull the end through the hole or spout and there you go.
But I don't think you'll want to take it under your armpit everywhere when you're going out, so then you simply use the end that is tucked inside the ball.

Here  you can find the tutorial on how to do that easy peasy with a néw ball of yarn but this time I'll explain how you can make your own centre pull ball. And the good thing is: it costs nothing! (Yay!)
Oh, and when I say 'rolling', I mean 'winding', and I probably made more mistakes... ;-)

Zoals ik al in de video zei kun je je rolletje versieren met een leuk papiertje of zoals ik met een restje behang en (behang-)lijm.
Leg je rolletje op het papier en snijd het papier op maat, met een overlap van ongeveer anderhalf Ã  twee cm aan beide uiteinden.
Plak je papier op de rol, knip wat uitsteekt verschillende malen in en plak deze aan de binnenkant vast.
Je kunt nu je rolletje eventueel nog extra verstevigen met plakband, maar voor mij is het zo goed genoeg (en ook natuurvriendelijker natuurlijk). 

Like I said in the video you can decorate your roll with some beautiful paper or like I did with some left over wallpaper and some (wallpaper) glue.
Put your roll on the paper, cut it to size with an overlap of appr. 1,5 - 2 cm on both ends.
Glue your paper on the roll, cut the ends lengthwise a couple of times, fold them and glue these to the inside. 
You could use some clear tape as protection, but for me this was good enough (and it's more environmentally friendly of course).


Ik heb ze overal liggen, in elke haakmand (en dat zijn er veel haha).

A couple of years ago I made this tutorial for byClaire & Friends.  It seemed the link didn't work anymore, and I wanted to translate it into English anyway, so here is the revised version. Hoe mijn gehaakte deken 2 dekens werd... - How my crocheted blanket ended up as 2 blankets...

Ik was heerlijk gedachtenloos aan het haken aan mijn #netflixdeken (haken terwijl je netflixt en als 'ie af is een deken om onder weg te kruipen als je aan het kijken bent).  Alleen maar stokjes, dus echt opletten hoeft niet als je een beetje geoefend bent. Such a great idea don't you think, a #netflixblanket (crocheting while netflixing, and when it's finished you can crawl under it while watching)!  Mindless crocheting, because it's only double crochets (U.S.), so no need to pay a lot of attention if you are a bit experienced. Af en toe even spelen... Some play time... Het was zo verslavend dat ik niet alleen voor de tv haakte, maar ook in de tuin. En in de trein, zelfs toen de deken wat groter werd. Noppensteek zonder doorschijn - Bobble Stitch with no visible contrasting colours

 Hoi allemaal, ik heb denk ik weer een leuke tutorial voor jullie. Als je de noppensteek haakt, neem je voor het gemak de draad mee in de tussenliggende steken. Het is wat meer werk om het op mijn manier te doen, maar het voordeel is dat je geen doorschijnende kleuren ziet op een lichte ondergrond (zie de foto hieronder), maar vooral dat je allerlei verschillende kleuren noppen kunt maken!
